Artist's Comments

or, "Fun with Overly Complicated Compositions."

So I've been listening to Reverend Glasseye a lot lately (that and Tori Amos' Scarlet's Walk back to back for a week and a half. DJ skills = fail), also reading Faulkner and hanging out with ~existentialpogo, and then this happened. The song is actually called "Belle's Palsy," but whatever.

It's a stylistic experiment, a mash-up of Gothic styles, medieval and American/Southern. I'm actually developing an aesthetic for a bigger project along these lines, so if you're the critiquing type, do let me know how I did. <3

Drawing ink and Dan Smith watercolors, 11x14"

Edit: Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou! I'll try and get back to y'all, but I've been awake too long and I have to go pass out now. =P

Terrific work... You have a keen eye for details, everything in this picture comes out flawless - even the clouds. Speaking of those, I like the way you drew them!

Okay, two days later I pretty much can't stop staring at It. It is awesome.

Obviously all that stuff about plaguestory was a clever ruse on my part. *hypnoooosis*

Thanks so much (and for the add)! Yeah, I'm rather fond of those clouds. I'm thinking I'll keep them around for future cloud-related pictures. : P

This style makes me happy on so many different levels, I'm practically drooling.

Thanks so much! Believe me, lots of sweat and blood went into this one.

yaaaay body fluids. >.>

Beautiful work! The colors look absolutely fantastic! I don't think I've been so impressed by watercolor in a long while! Great job!
:iconkillerpine:
Thanks. I honestly hate watercolors, except for this one brand that actually gives you some damn pigment in your paint. Most watercolor stuff just looks too washed out for me.
